With LFC, I could set it to a low of 1000rpm for 40C with speeds rising only when the temperatures rose above 55C. I think the threshold above which any noise from the fan is audible is around 1200rpm. While this seems like a sensible idea, Lenovo in their wisdom, has enforced a minimum speed of 1700rpm which gives out an audible whine even at the lowest temperature of 40 C. Second, unlike your tool, it does not allow reducing fan speed below a straight line curve that rises with temperature. LFC was particularly good at this as it linked the fan profiles to these thermal modes This kind of defeats the purpose of switching between these modes to manage your workload. Hi u/Rodpad, I've installed Legion Toolkit as well and the fan control that it offers is rather limited compared to LFC.įirstly, it only allows changing fan speeds in a custom mode and offers no capability to adjust speeds for the default Quiet, Balance and Performance modes that one can switch by Fn+Q. Don't use LegionFanControl when gaming or running sth that causes CPU spikes, it might burn the chips. I am only using this setting for web browsing which keeps the laptop quiet. When the fan stops running, then it would be locked and not running again until the CPU reaches 85C per my settings. If it is not working, repeat this step again. When the fan speed is lower to 34%, click on "Apply Defaults" which will turn it to "Balance" mode, then switch back to "Quiet" mode manually right away, then you should be able to see the fan speed drops down to 0% in a few sec.You can set the trigger temp that works for you. I set the temp trigger to 85C as I am using external keyboard, so I don't mind the laptop getting hot. Try the settings in the screenshot below.Close all apps and windows to minimize the CPU and GPU load to cool down the temp.Switch to "PC screen only" mode if you are using "second screen only" mode. The hybrid mode has to be turned on as there is no way to shut down the fan if it is off.Just want to share the way here if it helps. And I finally figure out how to lock the fan speed below 34% which enable it to stay quiet when not gaming. Seems it is the default setting that the lowest fan speed is kept as 34% when the dGPU is being used. The fan was always on even when the temp of CPU and GPU were both below 40C and with the quiet mode on plus the ultra quiet mode activated in the latest bios. I have a Legion 7i 2021 with i7 11800H + RTX 3080 and connected to 2 monitors and always running on the "second screen only" mode which is consistently using the dGPU even on the hybrid mode. If you have any ideas, feedback, or encounter any bugs, head over to the Unofficial Lenovo Legion Community Discord and let me know! I also release exclusive early versions over there too. Head over to for a list of supported Lenovo Legion laptops and download links. This will lock and unlock the fans, depending on user-defined temperatures and fan speed targets. "Auto EC Control" is the closest we can get to custom fan curves on Lenovo Legion laptops. The "Fan Speed Hunter" mode briefly engages the hidden 100% fan speed mode, and then locks the fans once the laptop has reached the user-defined target fan speed LegionFanControl takes advantage of hidden settings within the embedded controller of Lenovo Legion laptops which can influence fan behaviour.Īs of this writing it is not possible for complete manual control of the fans, however LegionFanControl can "lock" the fans when a Lenovo Legion laptop reaches a user-defined fan speed.
